The Different Moods of Forresters

12 01 2010

I’ve been thinking that Forresters Beach, like many locations, has a myriad of different moods. On any given day the changing light and weather conditions can bring about vastly different images. Here’s a sample of what I’m talking about… these were all shot within 20-30m of each other in the space of an couple hours one morning.

Sentinels

Forresters Beach, on the Central Coast, is a very photogenic location, particularly during sunrise & morning nautical twilight. Among it’s many shootable (yes I just made up that word) features is a large tidal pool, usually ankle to knee deep, where the waves wash in and then drain back out again. In this pool are two large rocks that stand at the ocean edge of the pool, looking very much like sentinels guarding the pool from enemies.

Magenta Morning

2 06 2009

I had a morning to myself mid-last year when I decided to go down to Whale Beach and shoot the northern headland at dawn.  I’d never shot there before so I didn’t really know what to expect in terms of the rock formations & the light conditions.  The twilight that morning was very…purple.  Can’t think of a better way to describe it.

The northern headland at Whale Beach has some really interesting rocks.  I’ll definitely have to go shoot it again sometime.  Here’s a small sample of what I mean:
